Where other companies have looked towards plastic and cheap material to mass produce items at a lower cost to push their bottom line, Giesen & Forsthoff has taken a different route. The company is about ensuring the very best shaving experience. Shaving is one of the most intimate tasks someone can do, which is why someone needs to look for the very best shaving equipment. So, from the family owned Giesen & Forsthoff to families around the world, the company wants to make sure everyone has access to the best.
The History of Giesen & Forsthoff
Giesen & Forsthoff have been constructing quality, state of the art shaving equipment for nearly 100 years. The company understands the importance of a smooth, close shave to allow both men and women to look and feel their very best. Only the finest material and craftsmanship will do, as it lasts longer and provides the closest shaves possible. That is why the company has been doing this for so long.
The tradition of G & F began in 1920 when Paul Giesen and Eugen Forsthoff started producing and manufacturing cutlery tools in Solingen. The quality and craftsmanship of the material quickly spread around Europe and eventually overseas in the United States, North Africa and Asia. The names Giesen & Forsthoff became connected with a higher standard, so whenever someone saw these products, they knew they where receiving only the very best in the world.
During the First and Second World Wars, Giesen & Forsthoff helped produce quality products for the military, and with the conclusion of World War II, one of the cofounders left the company in 1945. Once the co-founder left, the Giesen family took over the entire operation of the business while maintaining the name. The product name proved more valuable in tact than changing in. With news moving slower in the 1940s than present day, customers would not immediately identify a newly named product as that of the former design. Due to this, the Giesen family decided to maintain and keep the G & F name.
The family is currently in the third generation of owning and molding the high quality shaving and manicure products, all of which are constructed and designed by hand. With the popularity of the brand expanding with every generation, the headquarters in Solingen is looking at another upgrade and expansion in the coming years, in order to accommodate the growing brand. It now sells more quality products than it ever has before, all of which are designed to offer the very best shave and the finest manicure possible.
Although the initial inception of Giesen & Forsthoff occurred nearly 100 years ago, the company is still known for being a worldwide exporter of the high quality shaving and manicure products. In a time where most shaving blades are constructed from plastic and inferior material, individuals who have a taste for quality and want something a cut above the rest, more and more people are looking for that quality shaving experience not available from the plastic, disposable razors. The niche market for Giesen & Forsthoff is becoming more and more populated, which allows the company to grow as it should.
Outside of the shaving and manicure world, Giesen & Forsthoff does sell several other specialty products. This includes pocket knives, multifunctional tools and even specialty items on request, which can be ordered directly through the company.
